In this pauri Guru Nanak zooms out his perspective and helps us see the organizing principle of everything.
When we (the people of the 21st century) look at nature, we understand it as a set of fixed laws of physics that were set and work seamlessly without consciousness. That’s what we learn in school. We know that through the force of gravity the Moon orbits around the Earth and Earth around the Sun, we know about the movement of tectonic plates, we know how honey is made, we know how photosynthesis works, we know about atoms and we even created hydrogen bomb. Simply put, nature has been cracked and there is nothing else left to explore. Accept to get to Mars and save the planet from pollution.
Yet we don’t see gaping holes that exist in our physical knowledge. Even though Newton “discovered” gravity, there is a lot we don’t know about gravity. We have a hard time explaining how birds without consciousness with very small brains know exactly how to find a home. We know it happens and it happens often and with many other animal species as well. If a scientist with his superior brain would need to find homes from 3000 miles away, without internet or a map on foot, they would likely get lost.
We assume that nature and the universe at large work solely on mechanistic laws of physics and are based on the same thing called evolution that was once somehow put in place. How were they put in place? By whom? But the even better question is: What keeps these rules going? Will they ever stop? can things go wrong in the laws of physics?
But the universe is not a mechanical clock that was created with the Big Bang which set everything to motion and from then on no energy is being created only used up. and wound up to work, a clock that is only using energy and never creating one.
The current theory is that it was the Big Bang that set everything in motion and organized everything in perfect order. And from the point of the Big Bang (powered by some form of dynamic energy) we are simply just floating onwards without purpose into greater and greater entropy with no power, input, or ability to stop it. And one day I guess even the universe will run out of this initial dynamic impetus that started it all and will ultimately disappear.
It sounds darkly romantic. Gothic I would even say.
But it also sounds like the power, the initial dynamic power of the universe is far far removed from us and we have nothing to do with it.
Walter Russell understand the universe as
“Nothing has been “created”
This is a “creating” universe, not a “created” one. “ Walter Russell
Guru Nanak says it is because the whole universe is conscious, and that includes even a bone in your body. Everything is conscious and is listening to one another, and not only it listens but it can change itself according to what’s happening.
Because the universe and this earth is an unpredictable place and
When we start to see the world in this way, we might allow ourselves to see that the beautiful organization of nature is not due to pre-established rules but that it could be the result of constant listening and tuning of life forms to other life forms and all cosmic forces and their order. Just like an orchestra in which everyone has their notes but still needs to listen to everyone else to keep the rhythm and harmony.
This listening process, this process of consciousness being present in everything all at once, then allows for mistakes to be quickly overcome. Not only that, listening is part of the active organizing power of the universe.
Let’s imagine a world in which planets, Earth, continents, natural world, spiritual world, angels, masters; everything and everyone is constantly tuned into to one another and DEEPLY LISTEN to each other like players of an orchestra.
